چکیده

Arid and semi-arid soils are low in organic matter have poor fertility, making them a serious threat to crop production. Most amendments, such as residues farmyard manure, short lived because of rapid decomposition. Incubation pot studies were conducted assess the impact wheat straw biochar (produced at 350 °C) on temporal changes soil microbial biomass fertility status evaluate efficacy for maize production top layer Typic calciargid. The incubation study compared four levels (control, 0.5, 1.0 2.0% w/w basis soil) two fertilizer rates, i.e., unfertilized (no NPK fertilizer) fertilized (nitrogen, P2O5 K2O with rates 125, 80 52.5 mg kg−1 soil, respectively). After incubation, significantly improved cation exchange capacity, carbon by up 35, 59 26%, respectively, while decreasing pH 1.5% that control treatment. When fertilized, soil’s available phosphorous, extractable potassium total nitrogen 59, 39 28%, those control. results from experiment showed using 1% increased dry grain yield 57 72%, Additionally, phosphorus recoveries mineral fertilizers (up 26 38%, respectively) when 1.0% Conclusively, addition growth enhancing nutrient recovery improving properties.

Effects of wheat straw biochar and irrigation water on hydraulic and chemical properties of a sandy loam soil after faba bean cultivation

Nowadays, applying soil amendments is one of the most important ways to cope with water shortages and improve soil physical properties. In this regard, a greenhouse experiment was conducted to study the effect of different levels of irrigation water and wheat straw biochar on physical and chemical properties of a sandy loam soil, after harvesting faba bean. The experiment was performed with 5 b...

Wheat yield prediction modeling by soil properties: a case study in North-west of Iran

Crop yields are dependent on a number of factors such as soil type, weather conditions and farming practices. Crop yield estimates in different soil types are required to meet the needs of farmers, land appraisers, and governmental agencies in Iran as around the world. This study was conducted to model the wheat-grain yields [Triticum aestivum L.]  by soil properties in Khoy area, the north-w...

Biochar derived from corn straw affected availability and distribution of soil nutrients and cotton yield

Biochar application as a soil amendment has been proposed as a strategy to improve soil fertility and increase crop yields. However, the effects of successive biochar applications on cotton yields and nutrient distribution in soil are not well documented. A three-year field study was conducted to investigate the effects of successive biochar applications at different rates on cotton yield and o...

Effect of Deficit Irrigation and Mulch on Soil Physical Properties, Growth and Yield of Maize

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of deficit irrigation and mulch levels on soil physical properties and growth and yield of maize crop. The experiment comprised of two irrigation levels, i.e. I1: 558.8 mm and I2: 711.2 mm while two mulch levels, i.e. M0: no mulch and M15: 15 Mg ha. Soil samples were collected from 0-10, 10-20, and 20-30 cm depths before sowing and at crop ha...
